Thread: Chalk figure?

  1. #1

    Thumbs up Chalk figure?

Can anyone give me any information about a chalk figure I got recently.
It's 17 inches high, with a lustred finish. The registration number stamped on the base dates it to 1939, and it's stamped twice on the bottom with 'B'.

I hope I've posted the photos correctly, first time I've tried it.
Any help will be most appreciated.

I wouldn't sware to it but it looks life the type of thing that was given away at fairs as prizes back in the 20's and 30's

Thanks for your reply. I've seen those when I googled chalk figures.
As a child I remember everyone in my area has one variation or another of these. Usually the German Shepherd or a boy with cherries. But I've not seen this figure before. I think it might be a little heavy for a fairground prize, but these were the cheap ornaments that adorned Lancashire mill worker's houses. When I was a child everyone worked in one of the cotton mills, now sadly all gone.
