I sometimes feel like one of the staff at 'Downton Abbey' with years of servitude. I just worked out this will be the 40th Christmas cake I have baked !

I dont like it or mince pies so we dont have them but i do make some mince pies for mike then i finish the bottle of Brandy off

We have ours with clotted cream. Lift the lids and put the cream inside. Pick up with your hands -none of this poncy fork business - and devour. Not too hot or the cream will run down your arm

As I don't bake or cook much any more, we don't have Christmas cake or pud any more. I used to get the mince pies from the WI market stall in town but since it closed due to restrictive EU regs, we haven't bothered.
