Pitman was a local lad Private Gold, born in Trowbridge near Bath. I've seen his original shorthand stuff when I used to work at Bath University Library in the early 80's. I don't know if they have it properly displayed now but it used to be locked in a small upper room of the library in those days, a lot of it in boxes. I didn't understand any of it mind you as I didn't read shorthand but it was still interesting to nose around !

Glad to see you back Private Wicca. I was beginning to think you had gone AWOL and I might have to send out the military police !

I can only remember one squiggle now and forget what it means and i learned to type on a big old Underwood, now i use two fingers, I was also taught how to use a comptometer but it was totally beyond me as to what the heck it was for as it was stupid. sorry about the spelling but can't spell comptomywhatsit never mind use it.
Have a nice weekend Meebo, I hope the weather stays fine but wish you would slow down a bit, hugs XX

Morning - it's feeling rather muggy again as the breeze has dropped and there are nasty looking grey clouds moving in from over the hills.

Got rid of himself for next 3 days and have the house [and dog] to myself. A lot I can get on with but still have the Old Sailor to check on.

Got a few new listings up yesterday and must go and plug the YDC on Facebook again.

Welcome back Penni How is your daughter and her new baby?

District nurse has just arrived at the front door asking if and when he could do a Doppler on Mike so dragged him in to do it now, legs are fine but his blood pressure on the left side of his body is higher than on the right in both arms and legs, no idea what it actually means but he said he is okay and legs can support compression socks. to say I am confused is an understatement

Good to hear from you Penni, welcome back.
So pleased that daughter and baby are doing well - any chance of a pic of the little one - you know I'm besotted with little ones!
Sorry to hear that you burned your arm, but glad it's healing.
    Hope your hubby recovers well.

Meebo, hope that your surgery will make you feel much better - do take it easy - you have so much to cope with and we all think you are a star x
Congrats to the cadet Sarge on his engagement, better start looking around soon for your Mother of the Groom outfit!

Buttons, I don't blame you for being confused - so much to take in. I do hope that you and Mike will be ok and that you both get looked after properly, as you deserve. Seems like you have both been through so much - (((hug)))

Best wishes to everyone else - hope you are all doing well!
