Morning - after a sunny day yesterday back to the showers, but at least the wind has dropped down to a light breeze.

Question for the medics amongst you - do any of you suffer from oedema? It's appeared around my ankle/lower shin below my new knee. Didn't appear until 3-4 weeks ago once all the bruising had disappeared. My consultant didn't seem too concerned, so I'm rather perplexed. Just finding it very irritating and not quite sure how to deal with it apart from feet up and ice packs again.

Apart from that, got the Christmas cards done and ready to go - just the Old Sailor's to do later today and I can post tomorrow when in town for Tesco Staff Christmas lunch

Annie you are doing well with staff lunches even if you have retired so you can catch up .

Yes here is sun shine at the moment but had 2 showers while out walking the dog.

Gather according to the radio weather it is going to start getting cooler today, so might need to put heating back on again.

    No losses.

Annie Mike has oedema The district nurses got rid of it with K-Two compression bandaging and now he has to wear compression socks all the time and walk instead of driving, I had it very bad at one time but is was because of a drug called gabapentin, seems i was allergic to it, i do get it very very slightly now but that through sitting on my butt all day knitting.

I get oedema now and again mainly left leg and occasionally left arm .... checked out probable causes on line, decided I was still alive lol
and finally decided it was stress-related - nowhere near as bad it has been over the last year or so .. so I ignore it.
Hopefully yours is from the knee trauma and will settle....

That's my view and the District Nurses who come to see Dad. Anyway feet up, ice packs and drinking plenty of water are helping, but damned nuisance when I have other things to do ! I'm even resorting to Dandelion tea which is a herbal diuretic to see if that helps.

'Ello troops. I expect it is to do with your knee op Private Mcc2. I get it sometimes but mainly in the summer months so think mine is heat related. When I was eighteen I sat on a coach for three days travelling to Greece and by the time I got there my ankles looked like something out of the 'Elephant Man' film and I could barely walk ! I went to see the doctor about it once but he just said some people are prone to it and suggested support stockings - which were a lot of use in the hot summer months !

Still all quiet on the Western Front - think my rifle is going rusty !

I've always had swollen ankles when standing at work / sitting for too long on journies, etc. but this is discoloured skin - a pink/red band around my lower shin and the occaisional water blister. And if I don't keep it moisturised, it gets very itchy !
