Hello troops I'm soooo p*!!ed off. A cat managed to climb 12 foot up our honeysuckle hang around a corner and pulled the nesting box off the wall. The Old Soldier said he saw it happen but his mind must really be going as he didn't even think to tell O/H who was sitting in the next room or even mention it later. By the time we found it a couple of hours later and put it back up the baby birds must have died as the parents have been back with food since but just looked in and flew off again. It's so sad they had worked so hard over the last few weeks. If my dad had shouted to Colin when he saw the cat we could have saved them.

Colin has just taken the box down and opened it up. All the babies were gone so the cat must have hooked them all out after it pulled the box down.

All quiet on the battle front. I wish HQ would give us some news about the app and API.

aw thats so sad cornish. I'm missing our swallows this year. When we stayed at the farm they came every year, topped up their nests in the shed and had 2 clutches per year. Here we have a feeder in the garden but there is nowhere to nest. I miss the sound of the baby birds

Well he's cleaned the box out now and moved it even further over so hopefully no cat could possibly get to it and they might build another nest. The parent blue tits are still coming back with food at the moment looking for the chicks.

How sad for the birdie family.............I hope they try another batch of chicks. Cats just do what cats do, so it's nice you moved the box, now that you know how agile this feline is!
    Ta-Ta for now!

Evening all - not long back from a very pleasant afternoon with hubby's family in Shrewsbury. Think we're all sunburnt as a taster of what the weather will be like in Perth for Paul & Sarah.

As it's our Ruby wedding anniversary next year in November, it has been decided (by moi) that hubby & I will be visiting said Perth, Western Australia to stay with Paul & Sarah and our new grandson - he will be just a year old by then.

Just as well they gave hubby a huge money box/ savings pot for Father's Day!

Have to admit to 3 losses overnight, but we were busy entertaining visitors ............................

As much as I hate proving the sarge wrong but things do sell on alterative sites.... I have just had 10 bin's and they are already paid for.
