Thread: A few tips for Newbies

Exclamation A few tips for Newbies

If you check these it should make listing easier at your new home

    1) Make sure that featured isn't selected when you post an auction

Go to My eBid - My Defaults & set it there, don't forget to save it, you can also save the countries you sell to & any other details you use all of the time, tick the checkbox by Use this set for new auctions. (The default being set to featured has now been changed, it is now set to Standard for Sellers & Gallery for Seller+, but I'm not going to retype this list)

    2) If you've copied your listings from T/Lister, Feebay, or any other auction site.

Make sure all the links back to feebay or your feebay store, or any other ecommerce enabled website (including your own) are removed, otherwise your listings will be removed by eBid.

    3) eBid listings are 940 pixels wide

Anything wider than this will add scrollbars to your listings, so if you can change the width on any photos or fixed width tables. (Not really as important now, it used to be when they were 614)

    3) Don't list multiple identical auctions.

    They will be removed

    4) Don't list eBooks, Lottery, Pyramid or any Get Rich Quick Schemes

    They will be removed

    A few more tips....

    5) Choose your starting price carefully.

Most items sell on eBid with either one bid or Buy It Now. Don't start an auction for a price lower than you would be happy to accept.

    6) Think about the duration of your listings.

Your listing can run anywhere from 3 - 90 days. If you're listing in auction format 90 days is not a good choice. I can't speak for anyone else, but if I'm looking to buy something, I don't want to wait three months for the auction to end.

    7) Visibility

Search results default to the following priority.
Featured (fee payable) > countdown auction > run until sold > on first bid (>3 days - >90 days)

CMEJewellery For all your jewellery needs.

    Beads 'n' Bobs For beads.

Charms 'n' Findings For charms and jewellery making supplies.

    8) Feedback

Buy some packing supplies to help your feedback get off the mark, would you buy from a seller with
    no feedback?

    9) Read, Read & Read

    10) If you cannot find the right category for your items you can request a new one is added.

The Category Request Forum is the place to ask for new categories, you need to read the sticky from Gazza at the top of the forum telling you the best way to request a new one.
Your category may not be added immediately, they tend to be done in batches, when the guys have time.

    11) Make sure you read the listing rules & banned items list.

The listing rules are enforced. Some of them are different to feebay's.

    12) If you are Seller+ & cannot run an auction only a BuyNow

Make sure the RunTil Sold & Fixed Price only boxes are not ticked. RunTil Sold cannot be used with auctions.

    13) If you need help Please ASK.

That is what these forums are for there is usually someone around to lend a hand, or, you can also use the forum search, which can be found on the blue bar at the top of the forums, to see if your question has already been answered.

    14) If nobody on the forum can help you

You can contact support via email support@ebid.tv or via the contact us page which can be found on the help page third tab is contact us, click on click here to open a support ticket.
Whichever way you contact them you will receive an automated response with a ticket number fairly quickly, usually less than 2 hours, followed by a proper response a little later.
If you do not receive a ticket number, first check that the email has not been filtered into your spam/junk folder. If it is not there then try again. Some users with AOL or BT/Yahoo email addresses have problems receiving some eBid emails.
Support is in the UK, & on UK time.

    15. add a link to your listings as your forum signature (User CP, to the top left of this thread takes you to the right place to do this) so we can all look at your stuff

    16. The Plug hole is the place to do any more on ebid promotion of your items. One thread per seller is permitted, not more.

    17. If you're a seller, give your buyers plenty of payment options

Try and offer as many different methods of payment as you can.
Many people who are fed up with feebay, are also fed up with p-ypal. More choice.....more buyers!

    18. Join in with the YDC Charity auctions on the UK site, next ones start at 6pm. on 29th August.

Even if you normally only sell one type of item, have a look around......everyone has something they don't need

So, when you've located that unwanted gift.....get it listed....make sure you've got your forum signature sorted....& join in the YDC threads.
It's a great way to kick start your feedback & get folks looking at your other auctions.
