Welcome to the eBid October Newsletter

    Hi Everyone.

It's been a few weeks since out latest batch of website updates went live and everything went without a hitch I'm pleased to announce. Over 50 updates and bug fixes were put live. To view all the updates then visit our "Site Updates" forum page here.

You will notice quite a few changes to the layout of the listing details pages. We've made them a lot clearer with more information immediately visible to the buyer to help them understand your product details faster. Shipping prices and total prices are now shown to buyers straight away, dispatch times and item conditions as well. Shipping calculators are now not hidden behind a tab so should be a lot more easy to find.

If you have free shipping on your listing you will now see this promoted with a ribbon across the photo on your listing details page. All current photos (over 18 million) on the site have been optimized to allow faster loading times, future photos will also use the new optimisation system.

Listings placed within an eBid Store now show the store logo at the top of the listings details page.

The search facility at the top of every page has been improved with the addition of a dropdown menu that allows you to select a category ...

    Creepy and ghoulish are celebrated

And that's good for the seasonal business entrepreneur

The spooky time of year when all things creepy and ghoulish are celebrated, pumpkins are carved into Jack-o-Lanterns and children go in hot pursuit of everything sweet.

    Halloween
Why do we do this and do we all mark it in the same way?
Whatever you believe, it is without question an Aladdin's cave for the seasonal business entrepreneur marketing Halloween.

Lets start with the history and then onto the juicy selling of merchandize.

    In The Beginning

Many of us believe the US to be the birthplace of Halloween, ...

Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot

Here at eBid, we thrive as a community on our diversity. The one thing we all have in common as a multi-national family, is our love of eBid. Every now and again though, it is useful to be reminded of our differences, our quirky national traditions, and our cultural oddities.

Do you know for instance, about a chap named Guy Fawkes and Bonfire Night.

Past, Present, and Future of Beanie Babies

In 1986, shrewd innovative businessman Ty Warner was fired from his previous job working for a stuffed toy maker because he was creating his own line on the side. Eventually that would become known as the earliest versions of Beanie Babies, one of the biggest ‘crazes’ in toys, especially stuffed animals, in modern history.

The Official Beginning of the Company

Ty Inc. was officially launched in 1993 and through a serious of brilliant marketing strategies, Ty Warner began to build his new line of ‘posable’ stuffed animals into a ‘must have’ product.

There’s a lot of pleasure and profit to be had when you sell what you make!

With every high street throughout the country looking identical to the next, it’s now almost impossible to find something unique or handmade when we go out shopping.

Towns have become interchangeable as the same chain stores are repeated up and down the land. Discerning shoppers striving to find something unusual find it’s a difficult task when met with shops stocking ...

    All About Me Profile Page

Your eBid ‘All About Me’ page is your opportunity to tell potential customers about you and your eBid shop.

Think of the ‘All About Me’ page as your shop front. It’s your chance to smile at your customers as they come through the door; that short time you have to make them feel at home on your premises and it gives them the confidence to ask you any questions.

An informative and interesting ‘All About Me’ page can help put your customers at ease, lets first-time buyers know you’re trustworthy and are the right person to purchase from.

A good About page will make a customer feel connected to you, and will help you win that sale over a competitor.

    I have nothing to say

    Of course you have!

You don’t need to write an autobiography, but let your eBid buyers know a little about why you started your shop, some information about what you sell and your terms and conditions. Be as comprehensive as you can here as it leaves no doubt in a potential buyer’s mind how you’ll deal with them ...

There is a market out there...

People love things. We like collecting, we like displaying them; things can even express important parts of our personalities. This is why sales of niche titles on VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray and even Laser Disc formats are galloping away on collector sites. There is a market out there for videos of all genres - like the copy of The Best of Saturday ...
