  • Smart Shopping at eBid

    Smart shoppers

The smart shoppers out there know exactly when to shop for the best bargains. Picking up your Christmas jumpers in June or your tropical shirts in December might seem crazy but these are exactly the times when you can pick up a great product with a great discount. Styles of seasonal products rarely change. Year after year, the same amusing Reindeer and Santa sweaters are sold in stores and patterns are repeated ad infinitum. The same goes during the rest of the year for boxes of decorations, cosmetic gift sets, garden furniture, wedding products, children’s clothing and so on. Smart shoppers know that picking up non-perishable items means that not only do you grab the bargains, but you also take the strain out of the crazy Christmas crush.

    Shop online

Shopping online with eBid means not only do you get to avoid other shoppers and stay in the comfort of your own home, but also that you get the best bargains when it suits you.

Prices of seasonal stock like garden furniture and barbecues are ramped up in the summer. Come the first frosts and drizzle of the autumn, those same products go in the sale and then get stashed away to be re-sold the next time the sun comes out. Shopping on eBid means you can get the better of this cycle and be one step ahead of everyone else.

    What to buy, and when

    Winter/Spring

This a really good time to shop, made even better by everyone else being too shopped-out to compete. Buy winter clothing, toys, Christmas decorations, cards and furnishings. You can also pick up bargain linen supplies like sheets, bed linen and towels. Cosmetic and perfume gift sets are heavily knocked down in price round about this time as well. Take advantage of good intentions by picking up bargain fitness and sports gear too.

    Spring/Summer

Early spring is a good time to pick up tech bargains and new bicycles before new models hit around May. Shop for year-round clothing like jeans and layers – most people are too busy buying bikinis and swimming shorts at this time of year. If you can wait until after Easter, you can also expect to pick up a ton of chocolate at very good prices. Can you make it last until Christmas?!!

    Autumn/Winter

Stock up on early autumn clothing when the pre-winter sales begin. Make sure you get your hands on all the layers you need for that transition between summer and autumn.

    Top Tips

Shopping seasonally can net you some fab bargains but you should also keep the following top tips in mind:

    • Cosmetic gift sets often have a two-year shelf life, buy in January ready for Christmas.
    • Children grow! Buy bigger sizes or a range of sizes for all the children in your life.
    • Sunscreen has a two-year shelf life too, stock up for next season when the price is lower (always check the instructions!).
    • Chocolate can have a shelf life around 2-4 months after its printed use by date - a real keeper!

And finally, remember that by shopping online out of season, you won’t be competing in auctions with loads of other people. Fewer people will be looking for winter items while the sun is shining – go on, snag yourself a bargain!
