Who are you?

‘On-line selling, simple, you just open your account, bang up your listings and wait’. Mmmmm, well that’s one approach, but one that will probably lead to you waiting, and waiting some more.
When it comes to online selling, most of the ‘big boys’ would concur that proactive beats reactive every time.
What do we mean by this?
You need to think about what information a potential buyer needs from you and provide this information right from the start. Don’t wait for the customer to ask, because, worst-case scenario, they will give your account a miss and move on to someone else who has anticipated their needs and provided all the relevant information.
Pretend for just a minute that you are the buyer – then take a critical look at your account to see what is missing, or could be improved upon.
So, as the song goes, ‘Let’s start at the very beginning ….. a very good place to start’ is with your ‘All About’ page. Think of this as your ‘Customer Services/Marketing Department’. You should anticipate the needs of your customers and provide as much information here about who you are and what you offer – for example your Terms & Conditions of Sale, Shipping Terms, Returns Policy, do you offer combined postage?
It is worth taking some time to create a comprehensive ‘All About’ page. This gives potential buyers a better picture of the person behind the username and is a great way of inspiring confidence.
