About our Books Helping Others -

Free Shipping with the purchase of $20 or more books or magazines. Combined shipping available for purchases less that $20. 25% discount for local pick up of orders in Logansport, IN of $20 or more.

As many of you know we have over 500 paperback and hardcover books llisted and ready for online sales. We set this account up for those who feel more secure ordering through an auction site. If you find one or more on our Facebook page and it hasn't been listed here yet - please message me here or PM me on  Facebook with cover type - album name - title & author and I will list it/them here for you. You can then purchase through eBid. They've been in business many years. There will be no extra charges, same price or discount as our Facebook page. Since there aren't many buyers on this site (lots of sellers), we first concentrated on where we have had successful sales and trying to get them listed here as well.

Boxes of new books currently come to us approximately once a month for sorting. We carefully go through each box to find all books we feel are in our opinion in good or better condition. Some look like they havent even been read.* The other books, which are still very good for reading are distributed in various ways. They are made available to Nursing Homes, Veterans, readers with limited funds and so on. Some of those books are sorted into boxes of Westerns, Romance, Kids, etc. and priced low for the entire box. Books like these are not listed online and are only available for local pick up because customers can view the varied conditions of the books. We all have our individual ideas of poor, fair, & good so anything questionable is boxed. Many books are even totally free for local pick up. *If we've chosen a book for sale online that has issues they will be noted in the description.

Why can't we just donate these Free & low priced books to the local thrift store? And, most little libraries we know of are also packed full. If you're a book lover, I'm sure you'd try to do the same thing...

One day when discussing the tremendous amount of personal books we had with a representative of the thrift store** the idea for “recycling” books was born. Their shelves were overstocked with books as well as their limited back room storage area. To know there was a possibility of readable books being discarded in one way or another wasn't a positive thought for either of us. I told them the next time they needed to do something with extra books to give me a call and I'd make a donation for them. Then I would work on giving away or selling the books. If any sold I'd bring them back another donation. And, so here we are...

Now when this local, non-profit thrift store is over run with books, instead of having to destroy/recycle books they do call. We make a donation at time of picking up boxes of unseen books. Then we carefully sort through them. Unfortunately some are not able to be saved. Those are recycled. For many we have been able to keep the life of a book alive. And, from those we sell - we make another donation to the thrift store, one that does have an important impact in our community. So far the thrift store is doing pretty good. Which is what we were hoping for. And, many in the community have the opportunity for cheap books or a free book or two. Or more!

We are not a nonprofit. We are not a business. We don't want anyone being misled. While technically we purchase the books at time we pick them up, we make additional donations as they sell. Since we're not a business and some books came from other sources, shipping expenses, other incidental expenses, we're not counting nickels and dimes either way. So not all or maybe more than goes back in the additional donations. As you can see we don't price the books at what most consider their value to be. Our pricing is just to save a book & help others doing so. There isn't a profit driven need.

**I have not asked for permission to give their name. I think since the books are technically purchased from them, posting it might legally cause issues these days. Some might think this is theirs or is endorsed by them and that is not the case. Totally a personal project. Anyway, the work they do for the community is tremendous.
