Some Information About shikarijones
The photo above is taken where I spent some years in Southern Alberta living not five miles from the only two gem Ammolite mines in the world.
I am an avid fly fisherman but while fishing and wading around in these rivers,little did I know that beneath my wader boots lay some of the most beautiful and rare gems in the world known as Ammolite.
Some time later I saw some finished examples of these Ammolite gems and so began my fascination with what one prominent Alberta gem cutter calls "the Sacred Swirl".
Of all the attributes this gem posesses perhaps the most important to me is the individuality of each Ammolite stone.
No two are alike and each is a work of glorious colourful art created by incomprehensible passage of time and titanic natural forces.
You can spend ages examining the fissures,mountains and valleys in an array of impossible colours in each stone,and then tilt it just a little and the whole scene shifts in an explosion of completely different colours.No other stone on this planet can do this.
Most gems these days have cheap imitations that can fool an experienced jeweller.An example is the cubic zirconia copy of the diamond.You can put a real diamond in with two CZ of like shape and colour and you would never be able to locate the real one without expert help.So much for the individuality of your stone!
A single Ammolite can often throw flashes of emerald green,ruby red and sapphire blue,gold,orange,purple,pink and everything in between.An entire jewel box in one stone!
A single ammolite can also throw just one vivid colour.Another may show bright green one way, tilt it and it throws clear ruby red.A colour changer!
They are all different
No one has been able to counterfeit an ammolite stone satisfactorily and so for me this adds immeasurable pleasure to own something that is unique--one of a kind--a treasure containing 70 million years of patient work by Mother Nature herself!

All shipping at standard delivery by air rates.Keeps the cost reasonable and I have never had an item I bought this way go missing however you assume any risk when you select this method.For those who want tracking numbers and expedited insured shipping at far greater cost, ask me for an invoice and I will include costs for those services.
If you are outside Canada, remember that there are International borders between me and thee and those sometimes cause small delays which are entirely beyond my control.
