Some Information About philcovers
I have been a collector of stamps since my father first gave me the set of two stmaps issued in 1948 for the 3rd anniversary of the liberation of the channel Isles.
In 1953, on 15th April I helped form and ran the Newlands Road Philatelic Society, in Tunbridge Wells, Kent UK. It was NEVER run or organised by anyone over 21 years old. It was a live club for 14 years.
When I became a teacher at secondary Schools I started and ran school stamp clubs at reach school I taught at from 1964 to 1985. When in the NRPS we ran a GB FDC service to raise money for the running of the club. When I became a teacher I carried on producing FDC under the registered name of Philcovers for the same purpose. This I did till 1988.
I was a member of the following stamp clubs. Newlands Road Philatelic Society
Tunbridge Wells PS; Medway PS; Mablethorope PS; Reigate & RedhillPS, Scarborough PS (Am the Secretary now) and the Bridlighton PS (A member now).
Being a keen Edward 8th collector I have produced cinderella material for his fantasy reign from 1936 till his actual death in 1972, which is raising money for the Scarborough PS.
I collect also Machins, Bolivia, Nepal & Burma as well as GB Overprints/
