About me:-
I had to take early retirement from the diving and fishing industry due to ill health I have always had a interest in gardening since an early age and my farther had a small market garden as well as my grandfather so their is a long family history of gardening
Since the advent of the new supermarket style garden centers many of the small private market gardens have gone into decline
very often sacrificing the quality and personal service received from private family run market gardens
Rather than stock and propagate a wide range of plants I mainly specialize in
Hardy fucha, ferns, rhododendrons, snow berries, buddleia
these grow well here due to the local growing conditions and climate
I have stocks of various hardy ferns, hardy variegated bamboo small stocks of conifers, beech, hazel, rhododendrons, snow berries and limited stocks of sea thrift and heather. Exhibition pot leeks and other vegetables all subject to availability and listing on ebay
Cartography web and graphics services
I have other interests in photography cartography and the restoration of historical images maps and charts I am also in the process of creating an online public reference library of historical maps charts and old images.
About my plants:-
All my plants are propagated and grown out doors apart from the "exhibition leeks" with no artificial heat or pampering chemicals and are exposed to the worst west coast weather to ensure hardiness so only the tough and hardy survive.
The site were the plants are produced is exposed and isolated, free from Newzealand flat worm nor has it had any root stock or cuttings and live plants imported in from other areas
More information on Newzealand flat worm here
Fucha:- Seedlings
Grown from seed that I have collected from selected plants
are approximately 5-6 inches high.
I would recommend these for either potting up or planting in beds for later planting or if the ground is clean weed free and can be kept fairly weed free also free of grazing animals till they are established are an ideal cheap hedge for long and short runs
More mature fucha plants:-
9 -14 inches + the best option for short runs up to say 50 yards these plants will establish quickly can be planted in situ in prepared ground for the best results These are available in module grown and field grown plants
Large mature hedging root stock and plants:-
best keep well away from these the idea of an instant hedge is very appealing but generally have a higher long term mortality and expensive due to high postage costs they very often produce an inferior hedge, But they can be useful if you have an established hedge with gaps that needs a quick fix
About my fucha plants and seedlings
I nip the plants and seedlings several times to encouraged well branched plants to ensure a hedge that is dense low down with no gaps at the bottom
I do have some plants that would be suitable for cordons and grafting but these are very limited do ask if you are biding via ebid and would prefer these I might have some left for the same price.
