Welcome to Gare Loch Organics!
We are a small enterprise situated on the banks of the Gare Loch at the base of the Highlands of Scotland. We are passionate about providing beautiful natural products which contain no chemically produced fragrances or harsh petrochemicals.
For many years we researched the contents of toiletries and personal care products. We were shocked to see that the majority of products that are available on the high street are full of petrochemicals and toxins. Research is now showing that many of these products can be cancer causing and generally extremely bad for you and your family. We wanted to find products that weren’t full of such ingredients but found that they were few and far between. Even baby products have ingredients in them such as sodium lauryl sulphate and liquid petroleum which are both skin irritants not to mention that liquid petroleum is a by-product of crude oil, which we believe isn’t something that anyone should be putting on their own skin especially not a young baby’s. So, we decided to source our own ingredients to make something that we would be happy to use ourselves.
We use organic ingredients wherever possible and our products (except our Luxury Bath Soak) contain tiny amounts of silver. Silver is antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and speeds healing. Today it is commonly used in hospitals in the treatment of burns and in plasters (Elastoplast) to speed healing and fight infection (and also shops like Marks & Spencer put silver in the socks they sell to stop them getting smelly which is caused by bacterial growth).
We like to think we’re pretty unique in what we offer - not only gentle organic products for your home and bathroom but also products that contain a naturally occurring substance which has been used for thousands of years to help heal and protect - as far back as 4000BC Egyptians lined their water tanks with silver, they knew that it killed bugs in the water and prevented contamination, stopping waterborne illness. We hope you like our products and that you will use them safe in the knowledge that their contents are doing your body good and not potential harm. As is legally required, all our products have been tested by a qualified chemist to ensure that our products are safe to use, information available on request.
