I opened The Fair Trade Closet primarily because I wanted to get affordable Fair Trade items "out there". There are various on-line shopping sites now that sell fair trade but many of them come with designer price tags and are just not that affordable for the average man in the street.

Fair Trade is an issue that is close to my heart. I once spent a few months working in India in 1989. At that time Fair Trade was virtually unheard of in the west. I saw tailors and craftsmen and women with incredible skills yet earning an absolute pittance for their work. I had a sari blouse made for me by a blind tailor! His assistant took all the measurements and cut the material, he then sewed by touch.  Things are slowly changing and, whilst I can't make regular trips back to India to buy in person, I can guarantee that every single item I sell has been bought from a Fair Trade source and is Fair Trade certified. The items are made by experts, they are not second rate to the High Street, they are superior. By buying Fair Trade items you are supporting another person in their livelihood, not only in the here and now, but future generations too who will benefit from skills being taught and passed onto them.

I have been selling on another auction site for nearly 2 years and have 100% feedback on over 500 transactions on that site. I'm now branching out here on e-bid! I have a no quibbles returns policy on all my items. I do ask that items are returned at the buyers expense but I will then reimburse all your original costs or offer an exchange where appropriate.
