Welcome to Blackberry Wedding Designs
I have always been interested in all things connected to art and craft and about 25 years ago I stumbled across the art of Pyrography being demonstrated at a local craft fair. I was immediately drawn to this ancient art, also known as woodburning as at that stage very few people seemed to be using this technique. Pyrography is the art of burning onto wood or leather and translated literally means "fire writing". Originally, the Victorians would heat a poker in the fire and then apply to wood to create a pattern or picture. Fortunately it is far easier and cleaner nowadays! Through research and asking around, I started experimenting using a large cumbersome iron. To my amazement, friends and family started to ask for plaques, keyrings etc etc. Spurred on, I invested in a more refined pyrograph which is similar to a small soldering iron and found a supplier of wood blanks. Craft Shows and Country Fairs became a way of life, my work was always popular as I could personalise items while a customer waited. One of the most popular items was the wedding horseshoe and when I gave up the craft show circuit about 8 years ago to go back into full time employment, customers were still contacting me to order one.
Although enjoying going out to work, I found I really missed using my creative talent so a couple of years ago, I started working from home again and Blackberry Wedding Designs was born. I have increased my range and am always looking to improve and bring out new ideas.
I take great pride in my work and do my best to send out within a few days of payment clearing. I am always ready to obtain colours or embellishments that I do not normally stock - although I may need a little longer to source.
Postage is FREE within the UK and I try to keep postage to a minimum for overseas customers.
All items are carefully packed in clear header packs and jiffy bags so that they arrive in perfect condition
