About Art Foreplay The name Art Foreplay came about as a play on words and our intention is to provide a much needed showcase for innovative, quality and often playful art. Art Foreplay was conceived in late 2005 by both my wife and I as a vehicle to promote new and unseen works by talented original artists. We both met 15 years ago whilst working within the industry and it was through our mutual love and interest in art in all its guises that led us to this venture.
Our life-long passion in the visual arts has offered us the opportunity to meet many talented artists. Unfortunately, over the years our frustration has grown with the realisation that some of this extremely unique and often taboo work remains unseen and the artists remain unsung. The World Wide Web and eBid et al offer an excellent outlet to exhibit what we consider, in our humble opinion, to be art by some of the most talented individuals that we’ve had the privilege to meet.
Many of the artists you’ll see on Art Foreplay wouldn’t normally be promoting their works to such a wide audience - all create out of a deep need to express their observations, thoughts and views and their art is actually the by-product of this process and not the goal. Nevertheless, the works that we’ve chosen to showcase on Art Foreplay really push the boundaries, not just in terms of subject matter; as evidenced by Kaz’s peg and bondage fetish or by Colette Branché’s gag themes, but also in terms of how the images are generated, as with Georgia King’s unique mathematical feedback algorithm-art which manages to capture the essence of an external source.
Good Art appreciates in value and all the presented material on Art Foreplay is formally agreed with the artist to be reproduced in signed, limited edition format only, increasing the inherent value of the pieces sold and in addition, the prints are only available to purchase through this gallery. Many of the original works by artists such as Michelle Garner sell for well over a £1000.
We aim to have space online to showcase more work at artforeplay.com in the coming months and we hope to post new pieces on eBid as and when they become available from the artists.
We hope that you enjoy looking at the artists’ work as much as we have over the years and we would like to thank you for your interest.
