Some Information About ReelBearings

Giving you a little more insight into the seller.
I formed this company, after many hours searching the internet, and fishing magazines, for some sets of
sensibly priced standard reel bearings for my Abu 6500C and my Diawa Millionaire 6HM too!. Both reels being old I know, but they have been faithful to me over the years, so I wanted to be faithful to them, in return by giving them a new lease of life in the form of new bearings that they were so in need of.

I am not and have never really been a tournament caster, I did however enter one casting competition in the 1970's and came 3rd with a staggering long distance of 130 odd yards, using an old glass beach caster, and an old Mitchell 602AP multiplier reel. Stone age or what!, but I did get a bronze medal for the effort. That was my first and last foray into tournament casting, but I do like to a bit of distance in my armory when fishing.

My first memories of fishing go right back to the early 1960's, when I fished in Guernsey with my parents while on our yearly holiday there. Then it was fishing on Southend pier for small flatties, progressing onto various other species Garfish, mackerel, mullet, bass, eels, horse mackerel, cod, whiting, pouting and the very rare these days shad) that adorn that famous pier the longest in the world. There was a big group of us that fished together on there until the pier head fire, that in away killed off the atmosphere we had on there, all good times must come to end I suppose. From then on it was more beach fishing and lots of venues to numerous to mention here various many speices were caught by me from these varied venues. I then went into fishing competitions, over the years I entered many of these in many different places, and I am hoping to get back into fishing them again some time soon. The ones that I won were not to many, but the places that I got and section wins kept my interest in them for many great years. I have continued to pleasure fish at any opportunity I have had since not fishing competitions, and landing some nice fish while fishing in this way. So I do know about the workings of my reels from my fishing experiences.

But added to my fishing exploits I also owned a fishing tackle shop in Clacton on Sea from 1987 - 1996, the shop was named Clacton Angling Centre renamed Worms "n" Things in 1989. In 1990 we relocated from the Pavilion on Clacton sea front just above the Pier, to Jaywick Sands Broadway, just about a mile away. This was due to the lease of the shop not being renewed as the Pavilion was going to be redeveloped. An action that has only just now started in 2010!. A full 20 years after the town was promised a grand redevelopment of a town great landmark.

I reluctantly closed Worms "n"Things in 1996 due to ill health, and subsequently in 1997 I had a heart bypass. I am today not in the best of health, but I still enjoy going fishing.
