Seller's Description

Original British 80 inch x 60 inch 4-Sheet Poster for the 1936 Herbert Mason Romantic Drama EAST MEETS WEST, adapted from the play “The Lake of Life” by Edwin Greenwood and starring George Arliss, Lucie Mannheim, Godfrey Tearle, Romney Brent, Ballard Berkeley, Ronald Ward, Norma Varden, John Laurie, O.B. Clarence, Eliot Makeham, Peter Gawthorne, Ralph Truman and Patrick Barr.

Sultan Arliss is aghast to learn of his son’s relationship with the wife of a criminal.

Poster art by Chard

The poster is in fine condition in 2 separate sheets, with one horizontal and 3 vertical folds in each sheet. The poster, probably printed by W.E. Berry of Bradford, was unused and the reverse was later used by Taylors Printers of Wombwell, Yorkshire for a Robinson Crusoe pantomime poster. This is the top two thirds of a 6-Sheet poster. The lower third would have been the title and credits.
