(Zach Braff), a wacky medical intern at Sacred Heart Hospital, and his friends and colleagues: his confident best friend Turk, neurotic fellow intern Elliot, tough nurse Carla, and their supervisor, the cruel Dr. Cox. Unlike many sitcoms, SCRUBS employs a structure of continuing plotlines and developing characters, like many dramas will. It also combines verbal wit, slapstick humor, and fantasy sequences in order to garner laughs--a strange but effective combination that suggests a skewed version of reality. SCRUBS: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON features 24 episodes, with guest stars as diverse as John Ritter, R. Lee Ermey, Scott Foley, and Brendan Fraser.
