The first president of the USA, George Washington is featured on the obverse field of the 2013 5 oz ATB Fort McHenry Silver Coin. He is a common feature on all of the America the Beautiful Coins and is depicted in a left facing portrait that was originally used on the 1932 Washington Quarter but was refined for the series by John Flannagan.

The reverse field of the 2013 5 oz ATB Fort McHenry Silver Coin features an image of Fort McHenry where a historic battle took place for America’s freedom in Maryland. There is an explosion of fire just above the structural building, along with the inscriptions “Fort McHenry,” “Maryland,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” along with the date 2013 engraved around the rim.
