Ephedra viridis is a shrub that grows natively in the dry areas of the Western United States. The shrub commonly grows at elevations between 3,000 and 7,500 feet. Ephedra viridis is commonly called Green Ephedra, Green Mormon Tea, or Indian Tea. Native Americans made flour and coffee like beverages from the seeds of Ephedra viridis. Native Americans also commonly made a tea by boiling the twigs of Ephedra viridis shrubs.
