"An Act for regulating the Police, and paving, cleansing, and lighting the Streets of the Town or Barony of Gorbals in the County of Lanark and Grounds adjacent, and for other Purposes relating thereto [10th August 1843]".
This document names the streets to be lit, offences liable to a fine of up to 40s, i.e. "Every Person who shall suffer to be at large any unmuzzled ferocious Dog; or set on or urge any Dog or other Animal to attack, worry, or put fear any Persons, Horse, or other Animals", "Every Person who shall drive any Horse or other Animal drawing any waggon, Cart, or other such Carriage at any faster Rate than a common Walk", etc. A really fascinating document!
