I design and make unique and beautiful fused glass pieces in my small home studio. Each item is individually designed, with most pieces using at least two layers of glass. The glass is cut by hand, fused in the kiln at around 800 °C and then slowly cooled. This process takes around 18 hours until the glass is cool enough to handle and results in a flat tile - such as a piece of jewellery or wall art, or a flat platter. To achieve a shaped piece, such as a bowl, the tile is then reheated over a mould at a slightly lower temperature to either 'slump' or 'drape' it into the desired form.
