I am a simple hobbyist who enjoyed growing up in the 80's. As a kid I was lucky enough to own a Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48k. Now 40 years later and thanks to modern technology I spend time making replicas to protect my own valuable items such as the Rom Cartridges or digital tape TZXDuino items. Its just a hobby and maybe it might help you in some way.
