Original Contemporary Films release 10 inch x 8 inch Still, on doubleweight paper, and an original 9 7/8 inch x 7 1/2 inch Still for the 1956 Kon Ichikawa Drama THE BURMESE HARP, based on the novel by Michio Takeyama and starring Rentarô Mikuni, Shôji Yasui, Tatsuya Mihashi and Taketoshi Naitô.
Ichikawa’s poetic, powerful, pacifist story of a young Japanese soldier (Yasui), wounded and separated from his comrades, who becomes a Buddhist monk wandering the countryside and burying all the dead he can find after the end of WWII.
The stills are in very good condition.
