Main features:

- March 21 Opening for Supertram:  South Yorkshire Supertram Limited has confirmed that the first services will start running at 0600 on Monday March 21, between Sheffield City Centre and the Meadowhall Interchange. One of the Supertram units is pictured at the City terminus, Fitzallan Square.Pond Forge during a press preview demonstration run on February 22.

- News:  London Underground unveils plans for the extension of the East London Line; National Power's Class 59/2 No.59201 named Vale of York at the NRM; work starts on South Wales 'Swanline' project; freight companies locomotive allocation details; springburn paints Class 37/4 into green livery as D6607, Class 47s to be trialled in multiple on Felixstowe Freightliner trains; 'Crompton' and NSE saloon visits the Buxton area; bridge work is completed on Aire Valley electrification scheme, and March depot is to close.

- The Human Revolution:  Dick Hardy continues his recollections on the introduction of diesel locomotives onto the former Eastern Region of British Railways, and the effects on staff. This time D202 had run away on a falling gradient at Shenfield after being removed from its train as a failure with low power - the solution, carry a wooden wheelscotch!

- Inside Central:  Mark Causebrook who will head up the Central Train Operating Unit from April 1 outlines his objectives and plans to Steve Knight. The former Barmouth-Yarmouth railway operation has lost its East Anglian arm in the run-up to privatisation but there are still challenging times ahead.
