Seller's Description

Rail (Enthusiast) January 1994. Issue No.217

Main features:

- Traction Review of 1993RAIL presents its annual review of the year's traction news, with an eight-page special focussing on 1993, which appears on pages 52-59. Res liveries have been in the forefront of the news during the year under review, with the blue flash livery being progressively applied to locomotives. A Res-livery variation, grey and red but without the blue flashes, has been applied to Cambridge-based Class 08 No.08757. Named Eagle CURC, a name formerly carried on sister locomotive No.08631, No.08757 is pictured at Cambridge Carriage Sidings on September 24, 1993.

- News:  More stations open in Glasgow; Central Scotland electrification proposals; a new look for Gatwick Express and the Royal Mail orders EMUs for parcel traffic.

- The Human Revolution: RAIL is delighted to publish The Human Revolution- the inside story of how diesels were introduced onto the Eastern Region in the late 1950s. Written by the man who did it, former senior officer, Dick Hardy.

- Lens Itself:  RAIL presents a further selection of railway photographs that are somewhat different to the normal three-quarter front viewpoint.

- Mark 2 Coaches:  The humble British Railways Mk.2 coach is now in decline, with 'Sprinterisation' and the cascade program taking its toll. David Russell details the current Mk.2 rolling stock variants.
