I look to buy and sell quality fashion jewelry to resell online. I buy each piece individually and inspect before reselling.I try to provide as much information as I received when I purchased original item and list according to that information.
Here is what I look for when buying and will choose always look to buy Gold Filled over Gold Plated however occasionally I find a good quality piece that may have been listed as plate but  appears to be filled so I will list it as plate as well but only sell it because of its better appearance and upon inspection.

Both the Gold Filled and the Silver Assortments I purchase have alot more real gold/ or  silver layered over their base than most plating processes.Occasionally I receive pieces described as 'heavy gold plate' which is also thicker.
Gold Filled is  NOT the same as common Gold Plate which is just a think electoplating from the gold to color the item reather than to coat it., so that is either Electroplated Gold Plate or painted can evenytually fade or wear away.

Both the Gold Filled and the Silver products that I purchase to resell are listed as treated to Prevent Tarnishing and should offer years of enjoyment.
Just keep your jewelry clean and dry. Dont use any harsh cleaning fluids or abrasives.
Occasionally if needed, just clean with a mild dish soap & water  or jewelry cleaner bath and thoroughly dry with a soft cloth.
 
Remember : Gold Filled Jewelry, looks beautiful and almost as rich looking as solid gold. It is NOT made by the old plating process or painting process, so my gold filled items are up to 10x thicker than plated and are excellent quality~!
