I don't think you can see the detail or the amount of work that went into these. You'd have to ask your Grandmother or Great-Grandmother to find out, because this HAS to be a lost art!
I have examined these pieces very closely (which will drive you blind!) and I can see several separations within the design. I've heard that these can be repaired, but frankly, where would you find someone who still knows how to do this type of work? Maybe you can "outsource" it to China or India. We recommend hand-washing if you acquire this item. due to their delicacy.
The color is more like an ivory than white and each measure approximately 20 inches long by 10 1/2 inches wide.
