Soon to be married, Willie (George Formby), a clumsy gramaphone recording technician breaks the wax masterdisc of famous recording star Rex Randall latest recording. He is fired. Having just paid a deposit on a new house, George tries to put things right by breaking into the studio with the help of his fiancee Mary (Polly Ward) to re-record the song 'Leaning on a Lamp-post' himself anonymously. Unexpectedly the public prefers George's version, so the hunt is on for the mystery singer.
Originally filmed in Black and White we have colorized it.
