Dark Fantasy (27 episodes)
Dark Fantasy was a short series with tales of the weird, adventures of the supernatural, created for you by Scott Bishop. The series aired as a horror drama on NBC between 1941 and 1942. Dark Fantasy was a series dedicated to dealings with the unknown. Originating from radio station WKY, Oklahoma City, it was written by Scott Bishop (of The Mysterious Traveler and The Sealed Book fame) and was heard Fridays over stations. Tom Paxton served as announcer. The shows covered horror, science fiction and murder mysteries. Although a short series, the shows are excellent with some stories way ahead of their time.

Hall of Fantasy (70 episodes)
started as a local series out of Utah. It found its way onto the airwaves sporadically from 1947 to 1952. This anthology was picked up for national syndication by the Mutual network and broadcast from mid-52 through mid-53. Written and directed by Richard Thorne, a prolific and talented writer and producer, this series is often overlooked, even by fans of OTR. It is unfortunate, since it provides some very unique and dramatic material;
the acting in particular was superb. Early on, the series concentrated on murder mysteries, but later shows were devoted to horror and some Sci-Fi. Sadly, not all episodes have survived—only about 40 of perhaps over two hundred shows still exist. All episodes were standard half-hour format.

Inner Sanctum Mysteries (155 episodes)
The anthology series featured stories of mystery, terror and suspense, and its tongue-in-cheek introductions were in sharp contrast to shows like Suspense and The Whistler. The early 1940s programs opened with Raymond Edward Johnson introducing himself as, "Your host, Raymond," in a mocking sardonic voice. A spooky melodramatic organ score (played by Lew White) punctuated Raymond's many morbid jokes and playful puns. Raymond's closing was an elongated "Pleasant dreeeeaams, hmmmmm?" His tongue-in-cheek style and ghoulish relish of his own tales became the standard for many such horror narrators to follow, from fellow radio hosts like Ernest Chappell (on Wyllis Cooper's later series, Quiet, Please) and Maurice Tarplin (on The Mysterious Traveler).

Mysterious Traveler (70 episodes)
The show, airing on the Mutual Network from 1943-1952, focused on mysteries, both natural and supernatural.

Obsession (31 episodes)
Obsession starred many radio greats including Vincent Price, Ruth Warrick, William Gargan, Miriam Hopkins, and Barton Yarborough. Various writers have noted that the music was eerie and the acting was first-rate, but the quality of the scripts varied from week to week. Nevertheless, enthusiasts insist that it is well worth listening to. This classic radio horror series is based on the premise that the human mind is often dark and twisted; that we never truly know what is going on in the mind of those around us; that our own personal obsessions can lead to shocking, even brutal, ends.

Tales from the Morgue (21 episodes)
A series of short stories as told by an old obliging morgue attendant, licensed embalmer and resident story teller named Chet Chetter to a passing stranger of the night played by you the listener. The stories Chet relates to us are all quite fanciful.

They deal with topics that would be classified supernatural and science fiction. They border on outrageous but that is how they are meant to be. Roughly half of the shows feature a nice, likeable, rural southern manure hauler by the name of Elmer Korn who always finds himself involved in some inane predicament. The creators of the series themselves admit the show is rather off-beat but, you will find, not without its own charm which lies within the humorous writing and the recurring characters.

THE DEVIL AND MR. O (26 episodes)
With its premiere on the nationwide NBC hookup in 1935, Lights Out was billed "the ultimate in horror." Never had such sounds been heard on the air. Heads rolled, bones were crushed, people fell from great heights and splattered wetly on pavement. There were garrotings, choking, heads split by cleavers, and, to a critic at Radio Guide, "the most monstrous of all sounds, human flesh being eaten." Few shows had ever combined the talents of actors and imaginative writers so well with the graphic art of the sound technician.

The Sealed Book (26 episodes)
The Sealed Book was a radio series of mystery and terror tales, produced and directed by Jock MacGregor for the Mutual network. Between March 18 and September 9, 1945, the melodramatic anthology series was broadcast on Sundays from 10:30pm to 11:00pm. Each week, after "the sound of the great gong," host Philip Clarke observed that the mysteriously silent "keeper of the book has opened the ponderous door to the secret vault wherein is kept the great sealed book, in which is recorded all the secrets and mysteries of mankind through the ages, Here are tales of every kind, tales of murder, of madness, of dark deeds strange and terrible beyond all belief." After this introduction, the dramas began, occasionally interrupted by curiously extended organ solos.

THE STRANGE DR. WEIRD (29 episodes)
The Strange Dr. Weird was a radio program broadcast on Mutual from 1944 to 1945. Sponsored by Adam Hats, the drama is notable in part because it was a sister series to The Mysterious Traveler, both in theme and its narrator, Maurice Tarplin, who was also the creepy voice of the Mysterious Traveler. Many of the scripts were condensed 15 minute versions of scripts originally broadcast on The Mysterious Traveler. To the accompaniment of an organ. Spooky, strange Tarplin introduced each episode:

The Weird Circle (78 episodes)
The Weird Circle was a 30-minute mystery horror radio series that aired on NBC for four years, from 1943 to 1947. It featured stories derived from classic horror, ghost tales, and supernatural stories, written by popular authors such as Honore de Balzac, Charles Dickens, Emily Bronte, Robert Louis Stevenson, Edgar Allan Poe, and many more. Each story was presented in the format of introducing the narrator first and then proceeding to the plot.

The Witches tales (160 episodes)
One of the earliest horror series ever aired, Witch’s Tale was the most-loved radio program by New York kids during its time, which is from 1931 to 1938. The show’s host was known as “Old Nancy, the witch of Salem,” (played by Adelaide Fitz-Allen) along with his cat called Satan. It featured stories such as The Flying Dutchman, and the very popular Frankenstein.
