Tiffen 52BWFK Overview

The Tiffen 52mm Black & White Three Filter Kit combines the essential yellow #6, green #13, and red #25 contrast filters together, along with a four-pocket filter pouch, to provide a convenient solution for producing varying degrees of contrast when working with black and white film.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Tiffen 52mm Light Yellow 1 #6 Filter

A 52mm Light Yellow #6 Filter from Tiffen is used for a slight increase in contrast with black and white films. Although not as strong as a traditional Yellow #8, it can still be used to make a difference in your photography. You'll find it boosts your contrast just enough to make the difference between a black and white print flat appears "flat" and one that displays the proper correction.

Tiffen's ColorCore glass is produced through a process that entails permanently laminating the filter material in between two pieces of optical glass that are ground flat to tolerances of a ten-thousandth of an inch, then mounting them in precision aluminum rings.

Especially useful for added contrast between blue sky with clouds and foreground
Tiffen's ColorCore glass is sealed between two optical glass sheets. In this way, Tiffen can better control the various densities of their filters and thereby create more exact degrees of filtration. This process makes for greater accuracy of color as opposed to glass that is simply dyed and become subject to deviation during the dye process
Tiffen, a leader in the filter industry, proudly makes its filters in the USA and backs up its products with a solid 10-year warranty
Tiffen 52mm #13 (2) Green Filter

The Tiffen 52mm #13 (2) Green Filter is a basic contrast filter, primarily for use with black and white film. This green filter subtly darkens skies and lightens foliage. It is commonly associated for use with portraiture and attaining greater separation from skin tones and outdoor backgrounds. When compared to the #11 yellow-green filter, the #13 helps to lighten foliage and other green-colored subjects more.

There is a 2x filter factor with this filter, requiring an increase of 1 stop for normal exposure. Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Tiffen #25 Red Filter (52mm)

The 52mm #25 Red Filter from Tiffen is a filter designed to build contrast in black and white photography and creates separation between the tones. Using this filter it creates dramatic skies or simulate a moonlit scene during the day by slightly underexposing the image and also eliminating fog and haze. Infrared film is enhanced with extreme contrast turning skies even more dramatic and turning foliage white in landscape photos. The filter has a filter factor of 8, so you must increase your exposure by 3 stops to compensate.

Tiffen filters are not dyed, but are manufactured by using ColorCore technology. This process laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass and grinds down and polishes the glass. The glass is then mounted to the metal ring, which after that can be screwed onto the lens for the desired effect.
