Important info about antique jewellery:
Many pieces such as this were made long before the Hallmarking Act came into force and though we have been hallmarking items in the UK since the 1300s this was not the norm until recently.  Many items were handmade by the "family jeweler" and never went off to be assayed.  Anything made pre 1920 does not need to be hallmarked by law.
