Seller's Description

Simcoe Ontario Souvenir Teaspoon Tea Spoon Ontario Shield 4-5/8"

I acquired this spoon from an estate sale.

The crest on this spoon depicts the Ontario provincial shield.
The bowl of the spoon is engraved: Simcoe
The back of the spoon stem is marked: Japan.

The spoon measures 4-5/8 inches (11.8 cm) long X 7/8 inch (2.2 cm) wide (At the widest part of the spoon bowl).

The Ontario Shield:
The shield of arms — which appears on Ontario's flag — consists of three golden maple leaves, representing Canada, on a green background. On a chief is the Cross of St. George, the name saint of King George III, in allegiance to whom the Loyalists first came to the land that would form the province.

Simcoe:
Simcoe, Population 14,777 (2011), is an unincorporated community and town in Southwestern Ontario, Canada located near Lake Erie. It is the county seat and largest community of Norfolk County.

Simcoe was founded in 1795 by Lieutenant Governor John Graves Simcoe. Simcoe was incorporated as the Corporation of the Town of Simcoe in 1878 and had its own town council and mayor until amalgamation into Norfolk County.
