Rutile and Oxides in Quartz Cabochon Oval: Flashing Scenic Needles and Jardin

This piece is like looking through a portal to an alien world. Spears of bronzy rutile needles criss-cross the scene among leaves/clouds of red and gray-white dendrites with clear veils adding more sparkle in the background. There are some typical pin-pricks where needles reach the surface, and some irregularity along the bottom of the truncated pavilion (where it generally will not be seen). Really unusual, and I wish I knew where to get more of this fascinating material. The little world in this gem really does draw one in for a closer, extended look.
