The watch is fully working and keeps good time (-+ 2-3 min a day).
The watch case measures approx 4.7cm in diameter, not including crown.
All the covers close tightly.
The enamel dial has a small, faint hairline near the centre post.
The movement stop function is in working order.
James Lewis (73832) Served during the first world war and left the service as indicated in 1937.
He was recalled shortly before the beginning of WW2 and served with the Cheshire regiment throughout the conflict. He was present at Dunkirk and was mentioned in despatches. He was a Major in 1950 (Territorial).
There is still much more room for research.
The 9ct gold case bears a full set of Glasgow 1924 (b) hallmarks along with a 74695 serial number.
The inscribed inner cover is plated base metal (serial number74143).
The open face case is in a good general cover with various light knocks and bangs through daily use.
A service is highly recommended if the new owner intends to utilise the item on a daily basis as I have no idea when the watch was last serviced..
