Seller's Description
Western Development Museum Moose Jaw Saskatchewan Souvenir Tea Spoon 4-9/16" long
Note: the rear of the spoon bowl has a big rust stain that has etched deeply into the metal of the spoon .
I acquired this spoon from an estate sale.
The spoon is topped with a crest with a picture of a stem locomotive and the title "Western Development Museum Moose Jaw". The rear of the spoon stem is marked "Japan".
The spoon measures approx. 4-9/16 inches (11.7 cm) long X 15/16 inch (2.3 cm) wide (At the widest part of the spoon bowl). The spoon weighs about 15 gr.
The spoon is in fair condition with pitting to the front and rear as well as the rust mentioned above. (See pictures).
From the Wikipedia:
Western Development Museum:
The Saskatchewan Western Development Museum is a network of four museums in Saskatchewan, Canada preserving and recording the social and economic development of the province. The museum has branches in Moose Jaw, North Battleford, Saskatoon and Yorkton. Respectively, each branch focuses on a different theme: transportation, agriculture, economy, and people. The Museum is affiliated with the Canadian Museums Association, the Canadian Heritage Information Network, and Virtual Museum of Canada.
Moose Jaw - History of Transportation[edit] The Moose Jaw location of the museum is dedicated to all facets of transportation. The museum has its own shortline narrow gauge railway outdoors on the property. This branch offers a specific focus on aviation, which is appropriate given its proximity to CFB Moose Jaw.
The aviation exhibits include a dedicated Snowbirds aerobatic team display. The aircraft collection includes such exhibits as an American Aerolights Eagle ultralight, an Avro Anson bomber trainer, Canadair CT-114 Tutor in Snowbirds markings, Canadair T-33A Silver Star, Fairchild M63A3 Cornell, and a Canadair T-33 ejection seat.
