Beautiful overstrike on 20 Centesimes 1894R of Umberto I.. The facevalue, the reeded edge and even the date and mintmark are clearly visible!
Note.. This emission have to be considered as emergency coins, since they were minted in years when nickel was very precious for military industries.. For not to waist the nickel the previous 20 centesimi coins (km# 28) withdrawn from circulation were used again as base planchets to overstruck these new coins..
