Seller's Description

1954 Superior, Wisconsin Centennial Shaver's Permit Pinback Button

This button is in very good condition. No scratches or flaked paint, some rust on the back.

Great collectible pinback button from the Centennial celebration in Superior, Wisconsin, in 1954. You may never have another chance to get this one!

The men who lived in Superior were not supposed to shave from July 17 to 24, 1954, when the celebration took place.

They were "arrested" and "thrown in jail" if they appeared on the streets with a clean-shaven face. However, if they had to shave because of their jobs, they could buy this button to escape punishment.

1½ inches in diameter

Yellow with black lettering
