On obverse the coin depicts St. Stephan praying on knees to the left surrounded by legend: S· STEPH .METE·, which means 'Saint Stephen of Metz'. The reverse depicts the shield with cross and round legend: MON EPI MET ENS, which means 'Coin from the Bishopric of Metz'. Most of emission is known with coin alignment ↑↓. This coin represents completely new variety: it has medal alignment ↑↑. The discovery of this variety was made with the help of this coin, making it the discovery coin.
