Impel 1991 Hockey Trading Card #72 Herb Brooks 1980 U.S. Olympics Hall of Fame
I acquired this card from an estate sale.
Coach Herb Brooks 1980 U.S. Olympics Games Hall of Fame. Card #72 from the 1991 Impel set.

1980 U.S. OLYMPIC TEAM-Hockey
Young Herb Brooks was the last player cut from the 1960 U.S. gold-medal hockey team, but this disappointment didn't stop him from the pursuit of excellence in his chosen sport. A native of St. Paul, MN, Brooks played hockey at the University of Minnesota and for the 1964 and 1968 U.S. Olympic Teams before accepting a coaching position at his alma mater. There, he led Minnesota to the NCAA Championships in 1974, 1976 and 1979. The following year, he coached the U.S. Olympic Hockey Team to the gold, using some rigorous and unconventional methods: a 300-question psychological exam to screen his players, grueling wind sprints (now called "Herbies" by Olympians) and extremely strict discipline. Today, Herb Brooks is a coach with the New Jersey Devils.
The card measures 3-7/16 inches (8.9 cm) in X 2-15/32 inch (6.4 cm) deep.
The card is in fair condition as it has indents on it and minor corner damage. (See pictures).
