Heileman’s Special Export beer is an American-style lager with a crisp and smooth flavor dating back to the 1930s. Being an ancient beer, you may wonder if the beer is still made. This beer dates back to 1934. It was the second commercial beer of the Gottlieb Heileman brewing company after the Old Style Lager, the pioneer product in 1902. However, between 1920 and 1931, the US government signed a law prohibiting the production of any beverage with over 0.5 percent ABV. During this period, the company transitioned into producing sodas and malt beverages. In 1931, the prohibition was suspended. As a result, the company returned to making beers which birthed Special Export. Since its inception, the company has been a blend of partnership and a family business. After the death of Gottlieb Heileman, there has been a series of transfers of ownership and intellectual property; however, buyers still maintain the Heileman name. The beer is now a product of the Pabst Brewing Company after the split of the Stroh Brewery Company. Since 2001, Pabst doesn’t have a brewery of its own, so the beer has been contract-brewed in the US and exported to other countries.

The G. Heileman Brewing Company of La Crosse, Wisconsin, United States, was a brewery firm that operated from 1858 to 1996. It was ultimately acquired by Stroh's. From 1872 until its acquisition, the brewery bore the family name of its co-founder and brewer Gottlieb Heileman. Following the end of Prohibition, the Heileman family members sold their shares of the company to Paul Davis Company of Chicago in 1933, who formalized the company as The G. Heileman Brewing Company Incorporated; the new company president signed the very first stocks of Heileman that same year. Throughout the 1930s, the company continued to expand their facilities to accommodate increased production needs. There was a major upgrade in the mid 1930s following the creation of Special Export, Heileman's second house brew. Whereas Old Style Lager was only around 4% alcohol, Special Export was over 6%.

7. Domestic (U.S.A.) Shipping - Domestic (all 50 states, U.S. territories, APO/FPO & P.O. Boxes) shipping rates are calculated based on package weight, size, & destination & costs (packaging, fees, time). We ship within 1 business day after cleared payment.

8. International (Worldwide) Shipping - If you are in a country that is eligible for the Global Shipping Program, per our agreement with , we must ship using the Global Shipping Program. Direct shipping costs are prohibitive to buyers.
