This Poole silverplate butler's helper cleaned up so well it's hard to get photos without a flashback. Still, you should get the idea.
What's a butler's helper? Your maid or man-servant would carry this from room-to-room emptying the contents of ashtrays into it. The flip-top lid would assure the containment of ash as they moved around. Shown open, below, and the trademark on the base:
The bowl is a little more than 4" in diameter and better than 2" deep. Handle extends 4 1/2" from the bowl and is a highly varnished hardwood. A few tarnish spots indicate previous use, but there are no dents, dings, or serious scratches.
