SGI DMedia Pro DM2 High Definition and Standard Definition Video Option for SGI (Silicon Graphics) Octane2 with VPro graphics, SGI PN 030-1653-002 Rev H, also known as XT-DIGVID. Used, removed from a working system. Full specifications are in this SGI PDF Datasheet.

Support for all major HD and SD video formats, including:

• SMPTE 259M and 292M SDI inputs and outputs for video and alpha
• SD video formats: 480i (NTSC) and 576i (PAL)
• HD video formats 720p, 1080i, 1080p
• Video sampling YCrCb 4:2:2 8- or 10-bit, YCrCb 4:2:2:4 10-bit, RGB 4:4:4 8-bit

Other features:

• Patented real-time color space conversion from RGB to YUV
• Support for full sample rate alpha channel (8 or 10 bits)
• 16x9 or 4x3 aspect ratio
• Supports OpenML

Free driver CD included, but LVDS cables and VBOB not included. Ideal as a replacement/backup/spare, or for someone who wants to get the DM2 now while they and find the cables/VBOB later.

Payment for this item is only by cheque/draft or bank transfer in advance (email for transfer details) and must be made within 5 working days; it's too valuable to risk the perils of online services such as PayPal. Besides, the PayPal fees would be twice the cost of doing a bank transfer, so a transfer is much cheaper. Note that for international buyers, I must add on between 6 and 8 UKP (depending on location) to cover the fee I pay for receiving an international transfer.

AUCTION NOTES:

1. To use Octane2 with uncompressed High Definition video, it is recommended to have the dual-R14K/600MHz CPU option, ie. the dual-R12K/400MHz is not fast enough to reliably deal with HD video in Flame/Smoke/etc. Also essential is a RAID storage setup that spans at least two XIO ports in order to offer the required disk bandwidth, eg. two QLA12160s, one in a PCI cage, the other in an XTalk adapter; I can supply such solutions if needed (email for details).

2. I'm happy to combine shipping. Interparcel has fixed rates in various weight bands, so combining auctions is very economic, ie. except for packaging materials and insurance cover, the cost is the same no matter what the weight.
