Seller's Description
1925 was the year Columbia switched from the old method of acoustically recorded pressings to the new electric recording process licensed from Western Electric. This company has a long history, dating back to 1888, and was one of the "Big Three" in recording companies, competing with Edison and Victor. They remain the oldest continually used brand name in recorded sound, now owned by Sony Music since 1988.
Offered here is Columbia green label #E3225 showcasing a pair of German Folk Songs. In really good shape, with light playwear overall. Moderate scratching and some background hiss, but a faithful sound reproduction.
Side 44730 presents the contralto voice of Gertrude Karl with "Wo Du Hingehst", Opus 40 #2. Side 44729 offers Brahms, "Wiegenlied", a duet pairing Gerturde Karl with Wanda Blunck.
