Charles I Shilling

King Charles I, hammered silver shilling (Not) King Henry VIII silver half groat.

Manufactured by Tower or the Danbury mint rare mintage ? ....refer to photo's for the hexagon shape rose(worn/faded) photo 4 although I think can be seen better in photo 3.

Comes boxed and with certificate of authenticity for Danbury mint showing rose assay mark, though this is for a HenryVIII half groat (COA). Our explanation for this is that Danbury mint do make reproductions with an R stamp to the back and this coin does not have this stamp so all good there and the weight is correct for authentic period as the copper core reproduction coins are approximately 2 grams in weight and of the period coins are about 6 grams. We believe this to be an authentic Tower mint 1635-36 silver Charles I shilling that has been sold by Danbury mint in the past hence the storage box and COA which must be considered as aesthetic not relating to the coin.

Measures approximately 29.4 mm widest and 1.3 mm gauge/thickness. Weigh's: 6 grams (coin only).

The coin is definitely Charles the first and is a silver shilling we are not specialists in coins of this period though we have done our best to give you a good description to the best of our knowledge.
