""I, John George Sanders of 143 Upper Fore Street, Edmonton, in the County of Middlesex, Coach Trimmer, do hereby declare the nature of this invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement: My invention relates to a new or improved device for preventing the furling or rolling up of flags upon their staffs or poles which occurs more particularly during the prevalance of wind and consists of a bolt or collar of iron or other suitable metal surrounding the lower part of the pole or staff and moving on rollers upon suitable trocks...""
