"Provisional Specification left by Lorentz Albert Groth at the Office of the Cmmissioners of Patents on the 22nd February 1882...A communications from abroad by Jacob Wahlen of Cologne in the Empire of Germany. In order to give greater elasticity to boots and shoes at the joint (Geleuk) of the foot steel springs are sometimes inserted in the layers of the soles. These steel springs are not well suited to the purpose in view because the moisture and warmth of the foot..."
