Genuine Vintage 10ct White Gold GF North Carolina Ruby Tie Pin
Hello there and welcome (kroeso) to my wee store.
I sell online in high-end shops and websites and pre-Covid used to attend trade fairs around the globe. I have a huge stock of "bargain basement" items which were great at fairs for inexpensive extras. I also have a massive stock of highly valuable and collectable items never seen before on the internet.
This is part of my extensive collection of items that I supplied to discerning gentlemen all over the world. Dressing correctly is important to me hence I have loads of items like this.
ABOUT THIS ITEM
Constructed from solid 10ct gold (417 parts per 1000) filled (see below)
Fully maker assay marked and x-ray tested.
Dates to middle part of the 20th Century (c1960s)
The style is white gold with the seal of North Carolina accented by 2 rubies.
Gemstones are round cut natural rubies x 2.
Fastens with a locking rear retainer and safety chain - all in good order.
Condition is very good, ready to use.
Height is 14.5 mm.
Width is 12 mm.
It sits 13mm proud.
Weight is 5 grams to nearest (for those who care about weight, not quality)

GOLD FILLED: Over the decades I have bathed many many kilos of old gold items in acid to purify the gold content back to 24ct. The older methods did not use thin plates of gold like today's plating but used solid gold in the construction.
Gold Filled is a technique where solid plates of gold are chemically fused onto a base metal. Very high quality and will not wear if looked after.
This particular item is 1/5 10ct GF, so 20% of the item is gold.
